Our Core Affirmation

“We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, and as the only basis for our beliefs. This church accepts The Baptist Faith and Message as a general statement of our faith. The following is a brief summary of that statement:”

01. About God

The Creator & Ruler

God is the creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three distinct persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Scripture Proofs (King James Version • Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22 • Psalm 90:2 • Matthew 28:19 • 1 Peter 1:2 • 2 Corinthians 13:14):

Genesis 1:1:“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Genesis 1:26-27:“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Genesis 3:22:“And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:”

Psalm 90:2:“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”

Matthew 28:19:“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

1 Peter 1:2:“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”

2 Corinthians 13:14:“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”

02. About Man

Creation & Fall

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although created to have close fellowship with God, he fell into sin in the person of the first man, Adam. Since that time, all men are marred by sin, which consists of attitudes and actions of disobedience toward God. This sin separates man from God.

Genesis 1:27:“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Psalm 8:3-6:“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:”

Isaiah 53:6a:“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way...”

Romans 3:23:“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Isaiah 59:1-2:“Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

03. About Eternity

Eternal Destination

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God in conscious punishment is Hell. To be eternally united with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

John 3:16:“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

1 John 5:11-13:“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Romans 6:23:“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Revelation 20:15:“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Matthew 25:41, 46:“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels... And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

04. About Jesus Christ

Son of God & Saviour

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of men by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign eternally as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Isaiah 9:6:“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

John 1:1-5:“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

Hebrews 4:14-15:“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

1 Corinthians 15:3-4:“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

Acts 1:9-11:“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Titus 2:13:“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

05. About Salvation

Grace Through Faith

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by repenting of sin and trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

06. About Eternal Security

Kept by God's Grace

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer continues in faith throughout his life by the grace and keeping power of God and is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by God’s grace and power, not by the self-effort of the Christian.

John 10:29:“My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.”

Hebrews 7:25:“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”

Hebrews 10:14:“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

07. About the Holy Spirit

Comforter & Guide

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

08. About the Bible

Inspired Word of God

The Bible is God’s Word to all men. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
