The Good News • 5 Biblical Steps to Eternal Life (KJV)
Step 1: God's Purpose: Peace and Life
God loves you and created you to have eternal life and peace with Him.
God created us in His image to experience a meaningful, fulfilling relationship with Him and to enjoy eternal life.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” — John 10:10 (KJV)
Step 2: Our Problem: Separation from God
Sin separates us from God and leads to spiritual death.
We were all created with a free will, but we chose to go our own way and disobey God. This disobedience is called sin, which separates us from a holy God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” — Romans 3:23 (KJV)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” — Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Step 3: God's Bridge: The Cross
Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for our sin.
Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin. Through His sacrificial death and resurrection, Jesus took our place and built a bridge between God and mankind.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6 (KJV)
Step 4: Our Response: Receive Christ
We must individually repent and receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Knowing about the Gospel is not enough. We must actively put our faith in Jesus Christ, repent of our sin, and receive Him into our lives as Lord and Savior.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” — John 1:12 (KJV)
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” — Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
Step 5: The Prayer of Faith
You can express your decision to trust in Jesus Christ right now through prayer.
Prayer is simply speaking to God. God knows your heart and cares more about your sincerity than your exact words.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9 (KJV)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13 (KJV)
